Swanepoel & Scandrol Safaris Zambia have assembled the best collection of hunting blocks of any operator in Zambia. Our company has been allocated the famous Mumbwa GMA in western Zambia on a 10 year contract. We have been hunting this area since the late 1980's and throughout the safari industry Mumbwa is consistently regarded as the top lion and leopard area in Africa. In addition to the Mumbwa GMA we have secured exclusive long term hunting rights in the Mulobezi GMA also in western Zambia bordering the Kafue National Park. Mulobezi is also an outstanding cat area and is without doubt the finest area in all of Africa for Sable, Southern Roan and many indigenous species of Zambia. In order to offer our clientele the full range of Zambian species we have entered into agreements with two Luangwa Valley based operators. This allows us to offer world class buffalo hunting and also for some of the excellent lion and leopard found in Luangwa. We also offer safaris in the Bangweulu Swamps in order to offer our clientele outstanding hunting for the Zambezi Sitatunga and other species found in the region.
Since the reopening of hunting in Zambia during the 2003 season the results have been outstanding. The realistic annual quotas and offtake combined with the strong Anti-poaching and Community Development programs are going a long way towards assuring sustainable, high quality safaris far into the future. The results of the 2007 season are proof that the efforts have been worthwhile. Trophy quality is up and populations of all the various species continue to increase. We expect each progressive season to only get better and better.
