South-African Hunting at it’s best. Come and join South-Africa’s Finest Outfitter.
Almost at the end of yet another action packed season, it is time to reflect on what the 2007 season provided us with.
Our Top Class areas in South-Africa again surprised us by producing World Class Trophy's. We obtained hunting rights to Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. This area is renowned for its Buffalo hunting and is adjacent to Kruger National Park. Total number of Buffalo in the 2007 game count was 2,200 Buffalo. We received 6 tags in the 2007 season and took the new number 18 and 24 all time ranking Buffalo here. We are hopeful that we will obtain this concession for the 2008 season and will be offering these tags at the 2008 SCI show in Reno. We will be able to offer our clientele the opportunity to take a limited amount of Elephant in this magnificent area as well. Elephant sizes are restricted to 40 pounds but the price will be very competitive and will make for a great hunt in an incredible area with a great lodge. There is also 1 Rhino available for hunting as well 1 Hippo. This package for 3 of the BIG Five and 4 of the DANGEROUS 7 in one area is unique to South-Africa.
The hunting of Rhino has become a very controversial issue as we saw prices escalating to almost a 300% increase in the last 6 months! This is due to a couple of reasons and we are advising all our clients to hold back on the booking of any Rhino hunts for the 2008 season until we can predict what the cycle of Rhino prices will look like at the end of 2008.
Our Moketsi Estates area (Free State Province) produced some great Rhino and a couple of our clients got to complete their Big Five quest. The Darting (Green Hunt) of Rhino might also come to an end in 2008 and a lot of our clients took full advantage of our very exciting program to Dart Rhino at Moketsi and by their own testimony: It was by far one of the most exciting & dangerous hunts I have ever done. For the more sought after species such as Roan & Sable, this area again surprised us as it produced a 46” Sable and Gold Class Roan. This area is featured in the Safari Club International's outdoor show called Expedition Safari with Host Mike Rogers. Join us on Outdoor Live Network (OLN) for a great experience.
Esperance, our Kalahari concession (North West Province) had a very good rainy season and made tracking and hunting Lion very exciting. We shot some great cats and contrary to popular believe, the government has NOT closed this hunt and we are eagerly awaiting the outcome of a watershed case to determine the future of this type of hunting. Unfortunately this area has been sold and no more Lion hunting will take place here in the future. We are very excited to announce our new Kalahari concession where we will offer the same exciting Lion hunt and will have more info at the Reno show!
Our newly acquired area in Namibia was again more than we hoped for and we took some great Leopard there. This area is limited to only 3 Leopard tags per season and this is going to become one of the top areas in Namibia. There is a healthy population of free-roaming lion and this year we received 1 tag and shot a truly free-roaming lion there. Watch this space for more info on our 2008 Namibian Lion hunting. Traditional Eland hunting, as well as exceptional Kudu accompanied by Damara Dik-Dik, are available as well as a host of other plainsgame species.
We are in the process to acquire a new concession area in Mozambique and will be able to offer great hunts for Red Duiker, Blue Duiker & Suni. It is renowned for its swamp Buffalo hunting as well as great Leopard and Sable. More to follow on this exciting new venture.
To all our clients and friends that shared the 2007 season with S&S Safaris, thank you very much. You made it possible for us to provide you with these excellent areas and we are proud of each and every client's achievement. For some, it was the start of a very exciting journey, others came to the end of their journey by completing their Big Five or Dangerous Seven. To those who made it their first ever African Hunting experience, share in the idea that this was but, the first of many!
Lastly I would like to thank the loyal and trusted staff of S&S Safari's who made this all possible. The Houston and South-African offices as well as the Professional Hunters and Support Staff/Skinners/Trackers made the difference in us achieving yet another Action Packed season with unrivaled success.
