Central African Republic - Savannah

Swanepoel and Scandrol Safaris can provide an excellent safari for Giant/Lord Derby Eland in our new block in the northern region of Central Africa. The area we hunt is called Djangara/ Dar el Kouti, and stretches from Ndele up to the Aouk River on the Chadian border. This is an area of approximately 500,000 hectares. This is an excellent area for Giant Eland, Western Roan, North Western Buffalo, Lelwels Hartebeest, Red Flanked Duiker, Nigerian Bohor reedbuck and Oribi, with Western Cob and Sing-Sing Waterbuck as well. A 100% success rate has been averaged for the past years, with about 80% of our Eland going over 50 inches in size.

The area is well developed with roads, which gives access to the area’s remote parts, making hunting easier. We have our own anti-poaching team which operates all year with great success. The efforts of these internally funded, anti-poaching initiatives have resulted in greatly expanding populations of all the available species in the area.

The camp is located on the Aouk River with a view on the floodplains of Chad. The camp is very comfortable and meals and beverages are first class. For hunting we use Toyota vehicles both Landcruiser and Hi Lux 4 wheel drive. These vehicles are airconditioned for comfort and work extremely well in the savannah terrain.

Arrival and departure is from the Capital Bangui, where a company representative will meet you and take through customs, then a 1hour 45 minute charter flight to the hunting area. The airstrip is 5km from camp.

The Professional Hunters for these safaris will be Doug Scandrol, Dave Rademeyer, Chris Burton and Andre Roux, who have extensive experience in hunting these species.
