We offer exclusively for Swanepoel & Scandrol clients, safaris for Trophy Elephant , Buffalo, Leopard and plainsgame in the Chobe CH1/2 “Enclave” and the CH8 “Pandamatenga” areas. These areas offer hunters the most realistic chances for Elephant above 60lbs of Ivory per side and Buffalo in the 40” + class in Africa today. Leopard hunting is exceptional and the plainsgame while limited in numbers of species does provide top trophy quality. With the proximity of these areas to the Chobe National Park as well as the hunting road network and water development projects has led to these areas being a top destination for true trophy hunters. The Buffalo populations continue to get stronger each season and the ability to be very selective and find top caliber trophies is among the best opportunities available. These areas are being operated in a joint venture with AKUNAMATHATA WILDLIFE PVT Ltd.
Starting in 2005 we were able to offer a very limited number of trophy lion safaris in both the Chobe and Kalahari regions. These safaris produce some of the finest Lion quality of all of Africa and will continue to do so into the future. We took 4 excellent lions during the 2007 season, 2 in the Kalahari and one each in our Chobe areas CH1/2 and CH8. As baiting for Lion is not allowed in Botswana these safaris are done entirely by tracking. It is possible to combine Lion with Elephant, Buffalo and Leopard for a true “Big 4” safari. These Lion permits will book out far in advance so early planning is required. Lion/plainsgame safaris will be a minimum of 18 days duration. (NOTE: As of October 24th, 2007 the Wildlife Department of Botswana has suspended the hunting of lion until further notice. Please watch the web site for further updates!!)
We continue to offer our clientele incredible opportunities to hunt for huge leopards in the Kalahari region. This hunt is conducted with the indigenous Kalahari bushmen and is very exciting. The permits for these hunts are extremely limited so please plan in advance. The available plainsgame species in Kalahari are also exceptional quality and abundant. This is a safari any true African hunter would want to experience.
Hunters arrive and depart Botswana through Maun, Kasane or Victoria Falls respectively depending on the safari. Swanepoel & Scandrol’s professional hunters for these safaris will be Luke Blackbeard, Ronnie Blackbeard, Peter Hepburn and Chris Burnie who are all Botswana citizens, and Russell Tarr who has been hunting in Botswana for over 10 seasons. We have prime time slots in all areas for our clients. Plainsgame species are available on request in all areas based in quota availability.
