New for 2009 and future seasons for Swanepoel & Scandrol clients are some great safari opportunities in the West African country of Benin. The arrival and departure point for these safaris is through the city of Cotonou which is best accessed by Air France via Paris. We will be hunting is in the northern region of Benin in the Djona area located next to the D.U.W game reserve and the Alibori river. The area is primarily grasslands and bushlands covering over 300,000 acres. The primary hunting months will be January, February, March and early April. At this time of the year it is generally warm and dry with high temperatures in low to mid 90’s and low’s in the mid to high 50’s. Most hunting is done by spot and stalk and the buffalo are tracked. The camps are very comfortable and done in the typical West African standards using thatched rondaval’s with all facilities self contained. The camp is reached by road from Cotonou and it is a + - 8 hour drive. These safaris will offer excellent opportunities to hunt for a number of the West African savannah species with high success rates.
